Why Mint.com for Health Is a Terrible Idea

"While ... a Mint-style health dashboard may still sound enticing to the geeks of the world, including adherents of the so-called Quantified Self movement...the idea of continuous self-measurement only appeals to people who are fit already, or who have an analytical bent."

When you exclude the "worried well" (who are fit already) and the chronically ill (who are too far gone for sustainable health management), you're left with the "at risk of" majority. Population health initiatives that address the needs of these individuals, e.g., those with a higher than acceptable BMI, exert the greatest leverage on their near, intermediate, and long-term health and help the most people cost effectively.
